Colombo 1- 15; Are You Familiar With These?
Sinhala being the native language of Sri Lanka has given rise to a rather unique set of city names besides the general English names that many are familiar with. Most households living in houses for sale in Sri Lanka or houses for rent in Sri Lanka use Sinhala as the main language when communicating. But with the growing use of English as the main language, especially in Colombo where a majority of upper-middle to elite locals live in apartments or houses they’ve purchased on sale, certain Colombo 1 – 15 city names in Sinhala might not have even been heard of. The usage of these names is also rare if not for when you travel in the bus and the conductor yells them out loud.
So if you are not familiar with these Colombo 1-15 names, here is the complete compilation of the English and Sinhala names of the 15 divisions of Colombo.
