Sri Lanka Postal Codes: How Well Do You Know Them?

As an island, Sri Lanka has 9 provinces with over 200 cities and a population of more than 22 million. Most people living in the country are in the Western Province representing 28.7% of the population according to the Census and Statistics Department. As a result, there is a consistent demand for apartments for rent in Colombo, apartments for sale in Colombo, houses for sale and many other types of properties for rent/sale in the metropolitan city, Colombo. However, the postal codes applicable in Sri Lanka vary for such properties depending on where it is situated.

Cities in Colombo from 1 to 15 also have unique names that they are called by along with special postal codes. However, among all the cities in Sri Lanka Colombo is the most populated while also having its fair share of attractive places to explore. The ancient temples, modern shopping malls, entertainment venues, parks and many more attract people from all over the island. 

Because of this, the lands for sale in Colombo from 1 to 15 and its suburbs also have the highest prices and demand for residential and commercial purposes. However, not all areas in the city are of the same level of importance. Certain towns in the province carry prestigious postal or zip codes in Sri Lanka with high-end luxury properties and contemporary apartment units. While others comprise affordable homes and buildings designed based on space, budget, location etc.

Property investors investing in these generate high returns by leasing out their properties to foreigners and elite locals who prefer such prestigious areas and area codes. Many of them are surrounded by a range of amenities and facilities as well making them some of the most convenient places to live in.

Besides Colombo, other towns in the country also have their own significance. Certain areas are famous for their breathtaking natural views and have high demand postal codes in Sri Lanka especially favoured among tourism-based businesses.
